Abstract

Purpose: To retrospectively analyze patients thai were operated on in our clinics for chronic otitis media in terms of the surgical procedure applied and the anatomical variations encountered.Mnterials and Methods: The surgical procedures and the encountered anatomical variations in the middle ear and the temporal bone of 38 patients that were operated on for chronic otitis media between March 2008 and September 2009 were retrospectively examined.Results: Of the 38 patients, 23 (60.5%) were female and 15 (39.5%) were male. The ages ranged between 12 and 53 years (median 24 years). Among the patients included İn the study, the opposite ear was normal in 27 of the patients, whereas II patients had a coexisting pathology in the opposite ear. Sixteen (42%) patients underwent myringoplasty and 22 (58%) patients underwent tympanomastoidectomy.Conclusion: Today, unconscious use of excessive antibiotics leads to suppression of the signs and symptoms of chronic otitis media. Patients with otologic problems should be informed of the severity of the condition at admission and appropriate medical and surgical therapeutic interventions should be initiated promptly.

Özet

Amnç: Bu çalışmada kliniğimizde kronik otitis media nedeniyle öpere edilen olgular uygulanan cerrahi prosedür ve karşılaşılan anatomik varyasyonlar açısından retraspektif olarak analiz edilmiştir.Gereç ve Yöntem: Mart 2008 - Eylül 2009 tarihleri arasında kronik otitis media tanısıyla öpere edilen 38 hastaya uygulanan cerrahi prosedür ve ona lculak ile temporal kemikte karşılaşılan anatomik varyasyonlar retros-pektif olarak incelenmiştir.Bulgular: Toplam 38 hastanın 23'ü kadm (%60.5), 15'i erkek idi (%39.5). Yasları 12 ile 53 arasında değişmekte ve ortalama yas 24 idi: Çalışmaya dahil edilen hastaların 27'sinde karsı kulak doğal iken 11 olgunun karsı kulağında da değişik pntolujilcr mevcuttu. Toplam 16 {% 42) olguya mrin-goplasti, 22 (%58) olguyu timpanDmastoidektomî operasyonu uygulandı.Sonuç: Günümüzde bilinçsiz bir şekilde usırı antibiyotik Icullanımi, kronik otitis medianın semplom ve bulgularının bnskılunmasına sebeb olmaktadır. Otolojik problemi olan bu tiir hastalara bas vuru anından itibaren durumunun ciddiyeti anlatılarak zaman geçirmeden uygun medikal ve cerrahi tedavi prosedürü uygulanmalıdır.
