The Effect Of Organizational Prisonization On Organizational Opposition: A Case Study In Health Sector

Örgütsel Mahkumlaşmanın Örgütsel Muhalefet Üzerindeki Etkisi: Sağlık Çalışanları Üzerine Etkisi

Abstract

The concept of organizational prisonization provides significant inputs in terms of individual andorganizational outcomes. It is even more important especially for the healthcare sector where pro-socialorganizational behaviors are at the forefront. In this respect, the purpose of the present study was to examinethe effect of organizational prisonization on organizational opposition. The survey method was used in thestudy. The data were collected with simple randomized sampling method and face to face interviews from 375employees working in healthcare sector in and around the city of Konya. The results of the study were foundto support the hypotheses that were established previously, and showed that organizational prisonization has apositive effect on organizational opposition. It was also determined that organizational prisonization has anegative effect on open opposition, which is a sub-dimension of organizational opposition; and had a positiveeffect on implicit opposition. We believe that the present study provides important contributions fororganizational behavior and health management literature with its theoretical background for organizationalprisonization and with the applicable analyses regarding organizational opposition.

Özet

Örgütsel mahkumlaşma kavramı pozitif bireysel ve örgütsel çıktılar adına çok önemli bir girdi sağlamakla birlikte, özellikle pro-sosyal davranışların önemli olduğu sağlık sektörü açısından daha fazla önem arz etmektedir. Bu kapsamda mevcut çalışmanın amacı sağlık çalışanları üzerinde örgütsel mahkumlaşmanın örgütsel muhalefet üzerindeki etkisini tespit etmektir. Çalışmada anket tekniği kullanılmış olup veriler Konya İli’nde faaliyet gösteren sağlık kurumlarında çalışan 375 personelden basit tesadüfi örnekleme yoluyla yüz yüze görüşme yoluyla elde edilmiştir. Çalışma sonuçları kurulan hipotezleri destekler nitelikte bulunmuş ve örgütsel mahkumlaşmanın örgütsel muhalefet üzerinde pozitif etkisini ortaya koymuştur. İlave olarak, örgütsel mahkumlaşmanın muhalefet alt boyutları olan açık muhalefet üzerinde negatif bir etkiye ve gizli muhalefet üzerinde ise pozitif bir etkiye sahip olduğu gözlenmiştir. Bu çalışma örgütsel mahkumlaşma üzerine teorik altyapı sunması ve örgütsel muhalefet ile ilişkisine yönelik uygulamalı analizlerle literatüre katkı sağlaması adına hem örgütsel davranış hem de sağlık yönetimi alanına önemli kazanımlar sağladığı değerlendirilmektedir.
