Analyzing the Relationship Between School Principles’ Management Styles and Teachers’ Job Satisfaction

Abstract
The aim of this research is to analyze the relationship between secondary school principal’s management styles and secondary school teachers’ job satisfaction. The research was designed in relational survey method; the study population included 1101 teachers working in state schools in Maltepe district of İstanbul province in the 2015–2016 education year, the sample consisted of 250 teachers serving in these state schools. The results of the study reveal that school principals practice supportive management type more than the other sub dimensions in comparison to secondary school teachers. In addition, job satisfaction level of secondary school teachers was found high. Secondary school teachers think there is a positively significant relationship between management styles of school principals and job satisfaction of teachers.
Özet
Bu araştırmanın amacı, ortaokul yöneticilerinin yönetim biçimleri ile ortaokul öğretmenlerinin iş doyumu arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesidir. İlişkisel tarama modelinde tasarlanmış araştırmanın evrenini 2016-2017 eğitim-öğretim yılında İstanbul ilinin Maltepe ilçesindeki devlet ortaokullarındaki 1101 öğretmen, örneklemini ise bu ortaokullardaki 250 öğretmen oluşturmuştur. Araştırmanın sonucunda ortaokul öğretmenlerine göre okul yöneticilerinin destekçi yönetim biçimini diğer alt boyutlara göre daha yüksek düzeyde uyguladığı görülmüştür. Ayrıca ortaokul öğretmenlerinin iş doyumu düzeyi yüksek seviye olarak bulunmuştur. Ortaokul öğretmenlerine göre okul yöneticilerinin yönetim biçimi ile öğretmenlerin iş doyumu arasında pozitif yönlü anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu belirlenmiştir.
