Abstract
Is it necessary to classify the references to various forms of non-literary art such as painting, music, sculpture, cinema or dance, as if they belong to intertextuality? Can we define a painting, a piece of music, a dance, a sculpture or a film like we do a ‘text’? After a brief review of various theorists’ notions of the text, this work will attempt to explore and define, by distinguishing them, what we need to understand by intertextuality and the intersemioticity, that are henceforth defined as “the study of the traces of the semiotic treatment of an art in the semiotic materiality of another art.”
