Abstract

Among the sources of Baudelaire Hoffmann and Diderot take up a very special place because of their direct influence on the format of essentiel poetic categories of Les Fleurs du Mal. Baudelaire discovered the principle of “double” in Princess Brambilla and in La Religieuse the principle of “Mal” . The first of those principles concern form, while the second turns into a conception and a world-vision bringing forth the essential notion: “modernité”.
