Abstract
Philosophy is a human activity the main tool of which is language. Language, in this context, should not be understood only as writing and speaking language in its narrow sense. Understanding language in a broader sense as sign would open new doors for activities using language (including philosophy) and make them richer. In other words, language as an sign turns work of art into readable texts. Philosophy through cinematic language, on the other hand, starts with leaving certain concepts to the hands of cinematic language. If the cinema language can establish properly meaning context with that concept (which would be creativeness); then film as a cinema product can be read as a text with that concept. It can be argued that concepts related to humans and the human world are more significant in establishing that meaning context. In this article a meaning context of two films that we think is built by cinema language will be analyzed with a concept. One of them is the “Citizen Kane” by Orson Welles which is one of the ten best movies of all time. Second is the “The Return” by Andrei Zvyagintsev.
