Abstract
Nazım Hikmet’s admiration of Alexander Pushkin is verified through his own words and the works of Ekber Babayev who conducted extensive research about Hikmet, Fevralski who is known for his memoirs of Nazım Hikmet, Nazım Hikmet’s wife Vera Tulyakova and other researchers. Nazım Hikmet who defines a classical writer as an innovative writer resisting the flow of time also includes Pushkin in this category. Nazım’s interest in Pushkin does not only lie in the facts that their worldviews and lives show similarities; it is also of interest that in certain sections of his novels fieyh Bedrettin Destanı and Kuvayi Milliye there are certain parallelisms in terms of theme, imagery and conception of history with Pushkin’s Poltava about the Russian-Swedish War. There are also curious similarities between Nazım’s Memleketimden İnsan Manzaraları and Pushkin’s Yevgeni Onegin in term of history, society and style of writing.
