THE “MIRROR” OF MEMORIES OR THE ALTRUISTIC MESSAGE OF LJUBICA MILIC ´EVIC ´ TO CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS

Abstract
Ljubica Milic´ evic´ , a Canadian novelist of Serbian origin, sent a philosophical and humanisticmessage preaching tolerance in her novel The Road of Rocks by painting the problems of identity inher former homeland. During the same year, in 2002, she published the novel Marina and Marina,where she told the story of a friendship, lost and regained by two little girls of different ethnic originin a small village in Kosovo. In the past, the two communities lived in peace as good neighbors’ whorespected and helped each other. Adults introduced various kinds of conflicts, war and intolerancein the world of two harmonious Marinas, but their friendship is more powerful than the othernessimposed by their parents. In 2008, Ljubica Milic´ evic´ continued their story in the novel for teenagersMarina, Marina and Marina the action of which takes place in Montreal, where the three Marinas,despite their cultural differences, try to live in harmony with others. This is the altruistic messageof the novelist on the importance of friendship and tolerance to children around the world, but alsofor adults whose decisions often destroy the world for the ones closest to them.
