Abstract

The main objective of this work is, understanding and interpreting a literary work of art ina philosophical context through application of an anthropontological approach to the work, namely the novel My Name is Red. In this regard, we have first studied the literary work witha hermeneutical method in the literary analysis and fulfilled this objective by investigating theconcept of “ego” incorporated into the plot of the story. Hence, we also dealt with the relationshipbetween literature, philosophy and hermeneutics extensively in this work. Postmodernism, which has become prominent as a movement of art in the second half of the twentieth century in the realmof architecture, has rapidly established close connections with literature, and a literary process thatwe could define as “unprecedented” in the literature has emerged. The literary postmodernism thathas particularly consolidated its associations with history, has opened another door to the synergybetween literature and philosophy by matching up historical events, historical persons, places andtime with the authors’ own fictional thinking, by presenting artistic, political, cultural and societalinterpretations through utilizing the intertextual relationships (dialogism). The novel handles howthis peculiarity of the West has been applied in the Ottoman court, through fifty nine stories vianarrations of different first person singulars.
