Abstract

The multiple references and the cross-culture of the myth fascinate the contemporary reader. It transgresses spatial and temporal boundaries, thus becoming a timeless and space free myth. It is unlimited in space, because it doesn’t belong to the culture of a single group or people, being known by the whole world, in different forms. It is unlimited in time, because, during the ages, it didn’t maintain its initial form, evolving continuously. Its symbols are numerous and their interpretation underwent transformations according to the epochs. The fact that in the XXIst century it continues to generate controversies and new interpretations proves its importance for the common heritage.
