Abstract
In Hilmi Yavuz’s works seasons are not merely seasons. The four seasons tell of the journey of life. They refer to childhood, youth, maturity and old age. But they refer to no ordinary life, but the life of a poet, so the sole concern is not only life itself. This is because the poets’ journey through life overshadows the journey of life. The poets’ journey is a different journey. Yavuz embellishes seasons with different meanings in poetry which are attributable to life. He draws on the works of poets from the East and West. In his poetry all the different seasons represent a variety of different things.
