Abstract

This study aims to share some of the experiences and the difficulties encountered in the translation of Hakan Günday’s novel Ziyan which was awarded the 2014 French-Turkish committee Award. There is no scientific resolution or conclusion we would like to reach, we are just sharing the intuitive actions of the translator in the translation process. We did not want to refer to the theories of Berman, Lederer, Meschonnic or Ladmiral in out study but instead emphasize that translation is an intuitive process and furthermore a negotiation between two different languages and cultures. Our aim is to give readers a glimpse of the backstage of the translation process..
