Abstract

Nerval’s Aurélia can be regarded as a sample for a sophisticated narrative. It is possible to see the traces of the author’s inner world beside biographic information such as his illness, relations to friends, traumas as a result of his loss of his mother, and unlucky relationships with his lovers. The work has been a subject of research for various studies with this aspect. In this study, these data will be handled within the framework of Carl Gustav Jung’s archetype theory. The problems, traumas and failures affecting his personality will be explained with Jung’s method of personal unconscious and collective unconscious in a psychoanalytic analysis. In this way, the constantly appearing female image such as dream, double personality, and leitmotif; and all experiences and perceptions such as second life will be evaluated within the framework of archetypal symbolism.
