Abstract

The goal of this article is to consider the linguistic impulses from which the poetic word of Lorand Gaspar emerges; a poet for whom poetry is a “place of high energy,” enzymatic, free from all formal constraints, and dedicated to its continuous expression. If the notion of exchange, exemplified by a whole range of complementary and reciprocal acts, is fundamental to the creative act, in a more general way poetry refers to the origins of language. Even though poetry assumes the privileged model of passage and circulation, Lorand Gaspar is equally interested in how “the clear water of language between the words of a poem [signals the] origin of all tongues and languages (Approche de la parole). In this article we would like to clarify the stakes of the inaugural word and attempt to elucidate its complexities in the poet’s work.
