Abstract

The transfer of the cultural components within the scope of literary translation is one of the most important problems of the translation process. Utilizing the tools of ethnomethodology, this study will attempt to do a literary translation analysis by means of a novel whose narration is based on ethnic linguistic elements. Ethnomethodology guides us to define methodological analysis techniques while it helps us to identify the cultural components in the source text. The aim of this study is not to undertake translation criticism, but to identify the cultural components in the source text by building linguistic indexes, to understand how these components are transferred to the target text and to reveal how ethnomethodological analysis can contribute to translation performance.
