Effects of mental status, mobility and depression level on activities of daily living in hemiparetic patients

Abstract
The aim of this study was to describe the relation between functional status, mobility status and depression level in hemiparethic patients who suffered from cerebro-vascular accident. Material and methods: Seventeen hemiparethic patients (ten male, seven female) with .a mean age of 56,64+14,33 years were included in this study. Ten patients were left and the other seven were right hemiparethic. All the cases were evaluated using Functional Independence Measure (FIM), Rivermead Mobility Index (RMI), Mini Mental State Exam (MMSE) and Beck Depression Scale (BDS). All of the tests were applied once by a physical therapist. The data, which was obtained from this study, was calculated using SPSS for Windows statistical program. Bu çalışma hemiparetik hastaların günlük yaşam ve mobilité aktivitelerini içeren fonksiyonel düzeyleri ile mental ve depresyon düzeylerini karşılaştırmak ve birbirleri arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemek amacı ile planlandı. Gereç ve yöntem: Çalışma 17 hemiparetik hasta üzerinde yapıldı. Hastaların yaş ortalaması 56,64+14,33 yıl idi (10 kadın, 7 erkek). 7'si sağ, 10'u sol hemiparetikti. Hastaların günlük yaşam aktiviteleri Fonksiyonel Bağımsızlık İndeksi (FİM) kullanılarak değerlendi. Hastaların mobilité düzeyleri Rivermead Mobilité İndeksi (RMI), mental durumları Standardize Mini Mental Test (MMSE) ve depresyon düzeyleri ise Beck Depresyon Skalası (BDS) ile değerlendirildi.
