Türkiye Türkçesi'de "komşu" şeklinde telaffuz edilen sözcük, tarihi ve günümüz şive ve lehçeleri çerçevesinde incelenmiş ve karşımıza üç tip söyleniş çıkmıştır: 1. körşi, 2. konşu/konşı, 3. koşm "Körşi" sözcüğünün kör-/gör- kökünden geldiği anlaşılmaktadır.
