The Peanut Agriculture and Significance in Osmaniye

Abstract
In this study, the property, distrubition and production of peanut, which is an important agricultural product for Osmaniye were investigated and also workers, machine, trade and market situation were studied. In addition to the annual general production, the statistics of 2002 were taken as a base (The sowing of peanut in all fields including the town and villages of Osmaniye). In this study, the reason why we take Osmaniye city to our research area is that the most production and trade of peanut in Turkey has been done there. The peanut started to be an important product especially after 1980's in Çukurova and Osmaniye became the center of production and trade of peanut in 1990's. Producing of peanut in Osmaniye has been increased and the farmers earns a lot of money from it.
Özet
Bu araştırmada Osmaniye ili için çok önemli bir ziraat ürünü olan yerfıstığının özelliği, üretimi, dağılışı, işçi, makine, ticaret ve pazar durumu incelenmiştir. Yıllar itibariyle genel üretim durumunun yanı sıra, 2002 yılı verisi (Osmaniye iline bağlı tüm ilçelerin köylerinin yerfıstığı ekim durumu) temel alınmıştır. Çalışmada Osmaniye ilinin incelenmesinin nedeni, Türkiye'de yerfıstığının en fazla üretiminin yapıldığı ve buna dayalı ticaretin geliştiği bir yer olmasıdır. Çukurova'da özellikle 1980'li yıllardan sonra önemli bir ürün haline gelmeye başlayan yerfıstığı, 1990'lı yıllarda Osmaniye'yi yerfıstığında bir üretim ve ticaret merkezi durumuna getirmiştir. Osmaniye'de, yerfıstığının üretilmeye başlamasıyla çiftçinin gelir seviyesinde de artış yaşanmıştır.
