Abstract

The famous Russian writer Chernyshevsky is both a novelist and a person, being active in political life, putting forward an idea and being the leader of the revolutionary movement together with being a pen critic and theoretician. His novel "What Is To Be Done?" is a groundbreaking political novel reflecting his world of conception best. Chernyshevsky wrote this novel between 4 June 1862 and 4 April 1863 in Petropavlovski Prison. The novel has a leading role in terms of showing the main elements of form-content of political literature. The aim of this study is to analyse Chernyshevsky's novel, "What Is To Be Done?" considering form-content in the framework of main features of ideological engaged novel, being a sub-type of political novel.
