The Population Characteristics of Çorum Province in the First General Census of the Turkish Republic

Abstract
In this study, the subject is the population characteristics of Çorum province in the 1927 Population Census, the first general census of the Turkish Republic, it has been revealed in detail. The population of Çorum province before the first general census has been mentioned briefly in the introduction section of the study. In the main part of the study, based on the results of the first general census, made in 28 October 1927, firstly, the general populous structure of Çorum province and its sexual proportion have been explained. Followingly, a detailed analysis of the population and characteristics of Çorum province has been made based on age groups, marital status, education level, place of birth, economical activities, main language and disabilities of the people.

Bu çalışmada, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin ilk genel nüfus sayımı olan 1927 Genel Nüfus Sayımı’nda Çorum Vilâyeti’nin nüfus özellikleri konu edilmiş, ayrıntılı bir şekilde ortaya konulmuştur. Çalışmanın giriş kısmında ilk genel nüfus sayımından önceki Çorum Vilâyeti’nin nüfusu hakkında kısaca bilgi verilmiştir. Çalışmanın asıl kısmında ise, 28 Ekim 1927’de yapılmış olan ilk genel nüfus sayımı sonuçlarına dayanılarak, ilk önce, Çorum Vilâyeti’nin genel nüfusu ve cinsiyet itibariyle Çorum Vilâyeti’nin nüfusu hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Daha sonra sırasıyla; yaş grupları itibariyle, medenî hale göre, okur-yazarlık yönünden, doğum yerleri açısından, ekonomik faaliyet dalları itibariyle, anadile göre, sakatlıklar temel alınarak, Çorum Vilâyeti’nin nüfus yapısı hakkında ayrıntılı bilgiler sunulmuştur.
