The map of poverty project of Elazığ

Abstract

Despite the fact that poverty is a serious problem in Turkey, there isn’t enough operational studies in this field. Generally, the studies which are conducted in this field are only theoretical and academic works. There is a need for practical and concrete suggestions in support of social services foundations accomplishing poverty works. In this article, information is provided about “The Map of Poverty in Elâzığ” which is supported by EU and put into practice by Mamuret’ül Aziz Foundation in 2007 and its application process. This study is a sample in the view of poverty in Turkey for its depth and range. We believe that this study, in which 6964 families were surveyed and registered, will provide new ideas for social service perspectives.

Özet

Yoksulluk Türkiye’nin en ciddi sorunlarından biri olmasına rağmen bu konuda operasyonel anlamda yeterli bir çalışma yapılmamıştır. Bu alanda yapılan çalışmalar genelde akademik ve teorik çalışmalardır. Halbuki, sosyal dayanışma alanında hizmet veren kurumların hizmet ve çalışma koşullarını iyileştirecek ufuk açıcı, uygulanabilir, somut önerilere ihtiyaç bulunmaktadır. Bu bağlamda Elazığ’da Mamüret’ül Aziz Vakfının 2007 yılında uyguladığı ve AB tarafından desteklenen “Elâzığ Yoksulluk Haritası” adlı projeden bahsedilecek ve onun uygulama süreci hakkında bilgiler verilecektir. Yaptığımız bu çalışma ülkemizdeki yoksullukla ilgili taramalarda hem derinlik hem de kapsam açısından bir örnek teşkil etmektedir. 6964 ailenin tarandığı ve kaydedildiği bu çalışmanın sosyal hizmet açısından önemli açılımlar sağlayacağına inanıyoruz.
