Retrospective Analysis of Butterfly Myringoplasty Performed Patients at our Clinique

Butterfly Kartilaj Miringoplasti Operasyonu Yapılan Hastaların Retrospektif Analizi

Abstract

Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the retrospective analysis of the butterfly cartilage myringoplasty peformed patients at Elazığ Education and Research Hospital. Materials and Methods: Seventeen patients (10 male, 7 female) of the age from 16 to 47 years were enrolled in this study. All patients were operated under general anesthesia and their preoperative and postoperative puretone audiograms were analysed retrospectively. Results: 16 of perforations treated by butterfly cartilage myringoplasty were successfully closed at the end of the follow-up period. We detected graft medialization in one patient which needed revision surgery and the perforation was closed after revision. The mean preoperative pure-tone audiogram for all 17 patients was detected as 26.6 dB which decreased to 18.2 dB.postoperatively. Conclusion: Butterfly cartilage myringoplasty is a timesaving, safe, easy, and effective technique for the closure of small-to-medium tympanic membrane perforations.

Özet

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı Elazığ Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi Kulak Burun ve Boğaz Hastalıkları (KBB) Kliniğinde butterfly kartilaj miringoplasti yapılan hastaların sonuçlarını retrospektif olarak incelemektir. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışmaya 17 hasta dahil edildi (10 erkek, 7 kadın). Hastaların yaş aralığı 16 ile 47 arasındaydı. Hastalar genel anestezi altında opere edildi ve ameliyat öncesi ve ameliyat sonrası saf ses ortalamaları değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Çalışmaya dahil edilen 17 hastanın 16’sında perforasyonun kapandığı görüldü, 1 hastada uzun dönem takiplerde greft medializasyonu saptandı ve revizyon ile perforasyon kapatıldı. Hastaların operasyondan önce 26.6 olan saf ses ortalamaları, operasyondan sonra 18.2’ye gerilemişti. Sonuç: Butterfly kartilaj miringoplasti tekniği, kısa sürede uygulanabilen, güvenli, kolay bir teknik olup, özellikle küçük ve orta çaplı perforasyonların onarımında başarılı sonuçlar vermektedir.
