Elastographic Evaluation of Neck Muscles in Obstructive Sleep Apnea Patients

Abstract
Objective: To calculate the neck muscle strain rates in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and evaluate the differences between the OSA and control groups. Materials and Methods: Twenty-five patients with OSA (apnea-hypopnea index, AHI>15) and 25 healthy controls (AHI0.05) . Among the cases evaluated, the highest and lowest strain rates were observed in the semispinalis capitis and trapezius muscles, respectively. Conclusion: There is no increase in the stiffness of the neck muscles in patients with OSA. Among the muscles examined, the semispinalis capitis had the highest and trapezius had the lowest muscle stiffness.

Amaç: Obstrüktif uyku apne (OUA) hastalarındaki boyun kas gerinim oranlarının hesaplanarakkontrol grubu ile aradaki farklılığın değerlendirilmesi amaçlandı.Gereç ve Yöntemler: Yaş, cinsiyet ve beden kitle indeksi açısından eşleştirilmiş 25 OUA hastası(apne-hipopne indeksi, AHİ>15) ve 25 sağlıklı (AHİ0.05). Olgularda en yüksek gerinim oranıdeğerlerine semispinalis kapitis kası sahip iken en düşük gerinim oranı değerlerine trapezius kasısahipti.Sonuç: Obstrüktif uyku apne hastalarında boyun kaslarının sertliğinde artış yoktur. İncelenenkaslar arasında semispinalis kapitis en yüksek ve trapezius en düşük kas sertliğine sahiptir.
