The effect of aggregates granulometry to the physical properties of asphalt concrete and optimum bitumen ratio

Abstract
In this research the effect of aggregate gradation to the physical properties of asphalt concrete and optimum bitumen ratio was investigated. The aggregates and binder from the asphalt plant of Elazig Municipal was prepared according to type II. The Marshall samples were prepared for three different gradation between the upper and lower limit, with different bitumen ratio. Then the Marshall stability test were made and the optimum bitumen ratio and the other physical properties were investigated. As a result it had been observed that, the bitum mix which had been prepared with the aggregate of Elazig Municipal is suitable and, it is between the lower and upper limits.
Özet
Bu çalışmada, şartname sınırları arasındaki agrega granülometrisinin asfalt betonunun fiziksel özelliklerine ve optimum bitüm oranına etkisi araştırılmıştır. Elazığ Belediyesi Asfalt Tesislerinden temin edilen agrega, binder tabakası tip H'ye göre alt limitten üst limite kadar üç değişik gradasyon, değişik bitüm oranlarıyla karıştırılarak, marshall biriketleri hazırlanmış ve marshall stabilitesi deneyine tabi tutularak numunelerin optimum bitüm oranı ve diğer fiziksel özellikleri incelenmiştir. Sonuçta Elazığ Belediyesi'nin kullandığı, binder tabakası tip II'ye göre alt ve üst limit değerlerinin ortasında bulunan agrega ile yapılan bitümlü karışımın, şartnamelere uygun olduğu belirlenmiştir.
