A numerical taxonomic study on some Hypericum L. (Hyperiaceae) species in Turkey

Abstract

This study was carried out to determine the similarities among the Hypericum species and determine, also, the close relatives of H. perforatum L., by examining some morphological characters of the species, from different locations collected in Turkey in 2001 and 2002. For this purpose, H. perforatum L., H. olympicum L. subsp. olympicuın, H. calycinuın L., H. cerastoides (Spach.) Robson, H. montbretii Spach, H. triquetrifoliwn Turra, H. confertuın Choisy subsp. confertuın, H. scabrum L. and H: lydium Boiss. have been examined. In the study, plant height, number of stems per plant, diameter of stems, number of flowers per plant, diameter of flowers, stilus height, sepals leaf height and width, bractea height, leaves height and width and capsule height and width were measured. To classify the species, the data obtained were evaluated by using Multidimensional Scaling Analysis-Euclidean Distance Model. As a result of this research, Hypericum species formed different groups from each other. H. olympicum L. subsp. olympicum, H. calycinuın L., H. cerastoides (Spach.) Robson, and H. triquetrifoliwn Turra formed further groups from the other species and H. montbretii Spach, H. confertuın Choisy subsp. confertuın, H. perforatum L., H. lydium Boiss. and H. scabrum L. formed closer groups to each other.

Özet

Bu çalışma, 2001 ve 2002 yıllarında Türkiye'nin çeşitli yerlerinden toplanan farklı Hypericum türlerinin bazı morfolojik özelliklerinin saptanarak türlerin benzerlikleri hakkında bilgi edinmek ve türlerin gruplandınlması amacı ile yapılmıştır. Bu amaçla H. perforatum L., H. olympicum L. subsp. olympicuın, H. calycinuın L., H. cerastaîfles (Spach.) Robson, H. montbretii Spach, H. triquetrifolium Turra, H. confertuın Choisy subsp. confertuın, H. scabrum L. ve H. lydium Boiss. türleri değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmada, bitki boyu (cm), dal sayısı (adet/bitki), dal çapı (mm), çiçek sayısı (adet/bitki), çiçek çapı (mm), stilus boyu (mm), sepal boyu ve eni (mm), brakte boyu (mm), yaprak boyu ve eni (mm), kapsül boyu ve eni (mm) özellikleri ölçülerek belirlenmiştir. Türleri gruplandırmak amacı ile elde edilen veriler Çok Boyutlu Ölçekleme Analizi-Öklit Uzaklık Modeline göre değerlendirilmişlerdir. Çalışmanın sonucunda türler birbirinden farklı gruplar oluşturmakla birlikte H. olympicum L. subsp. olympicuın, H. calycinuın L., H. cerastoides (Spach.) Robson ve H. triquetrifolium Turra, diğer türlerden uzakta; H. montbretii Spach, H. confertuın Choisy subsp. confertuın, H. perforatum L., H. lydium Boiss. ve H. scabrum L. ise birbirlerine daha yakın gruplar oluşturmuşlardır.
