JOHN CAGE VE RASTLAMSALLIK

Özet

Müzik tarihinde, özellikle 20. yüzyılın başlarından itibaren çok yoğun ve farklı gelişmeler yaşanmıştır. Toplumsal yaşamda, modernizmle birlikte gelişen teknolojinin de etkisiyle yaşanan değişim, hayatın bütün alanlarında olduğu gibi sanatı dolayısıyla müziği de etkilemiş ve halihazırda varolanın sorgulanmasını, farklılık ve yenilik arayışlarını beraberinde getirmiştir. Ortaya çıkan bu yeni algı ve anlayış, bestecileri, geleneksel besteleme yöntemlerivemevcutmalzemeyikullanmakileyetinmekyerine,yeni besteleme yöntemleri ve malzeme arayışlarına itmiştir. Bu gelişme, hem eserleri, hem de eserlerin icrasını-seslendirilmesini değiştirmiştir. John Cage (1912-1992), söz konusu duruma verilebilecek en uygun örneklerden biridir. Rastlamsal (Random) müziğin en önemli temsilcisi olarak yaşamı boyunca çok farklı uygulamalarla etkili olmuş ve olmaya devam eden bir sanatçı, düşünür, müzisyen, besteci, eğitimci ve yazardır. New York Okulu’nun bir üyesi olan Cage, kimilerine göre avangard, kimilerine göre modernist, kimilerine göre ise postmodernisttir. Bu araştırmada, John Cage’in kim olduğu, kimliği ile birlikte çalışmaları ve eserleriyle müziğe olan etkisi ortaya konulmaya çalışılacaktır.

Abstract

In the history of music, especially since the beginning of the 20th century, veryintenseanddifferent developmentshaveoccurred.Thechange experienced in the social life with the effect of the technology developing with modernism has affected the music because of the art as in all areas of life, and brought the questioning of the existing, the search fordifference and innovation. This emerging new perception and understanding pushed composers to search for new composing methods and materials instead of usingtraditionalcomposingmethodsandexistingmaterial.This development changed both the works and the performance and vocalization of the works.John Cage (1912-1992) is one of the best examples of this situation. He is an artist, thinker, musician, composer, educator and writer who has been influential and continues to be influential with many different applications throughout his life as the most important representative of random music. Cage, a member of the New York School, is avant-garde for some, modernist for some, and postmodernist for others. In this research, it will be tried to reveal who is John Cage, his identity and his influence on music with his practises and works.
