Abstract
Al-FarabVs Dualism This article deals with al-Farabian dualism. On the most common form of dualism that is often associated the Cartesian dualism, mind and body are considered as two substances which exist independently of each other. Al-Farabi, who puts forward more fundamental arguments for the nature of mind and body, argues that these two components draw their existence from God. Although, on his account, the mind (the soul) is a more fundamental substance, it coexists with body and acquires its perfection and immortality through body.
