Abstract

Dany Laferrière is a writer from Québec. He is of Haitian origin and he writes in French. His novels are a part of Canadian migration literature. His first novel How to make love to a Negro without getting tired published in Montreal in 1985 has a rather provocative and daring title and has brought him recognition not only in Canada but also throughout the French speaking countries. The main character of the novel is a young Black man who lives in Montreal and whose major occupation is to cruise English speaking young white students. He is in the process of writing a novel titled Black Cruiser’s Paradise. How to make love to a Negro without getting tired appears to be light and playful at first sight, however, behind the humorous façade of this novel is there a postcolonial claim of Black people in Canada? We will try to answer this question with the present article
