THE GEOGRAPHY SECTION OF THE TRANSLATION OF HAMD-ALLÂH MUSTAWFÎ’S WORK TITLED NUZHAT AL-QULÛB MADE IN THE ANATOLIAN FİELD İN THE 17TH CENTURY (VR.188A-308B)

Abstract

The work named “Nuzhat al-Qulûb” one ofthe important works of his period and written byHamd-allāh Mustawfī was translated from Persi an into Ottoman Turkish under the name of theTranslation of the Nuzhat al-Qulûb in the 17thcentury. With this study, our aim is to introducethe work named the Translation of the Nuzhat al Qulûb to the world of science, as well as to cont ribute to the language research of the 17th centuryOttoman Turkish. This work, translated for thegovernor of Bitlis Abdal Khan bin Ziauddin Khanbefore 1650, contains important information thatcan shed light on different branches of science.The work, which is encyclopaedic, consists ofdifferent sections. Among these sections, the ge ography section constitutes our research subject.The geography section has remarkable details interms of being the section with the highest num ber of leaves and the information it gives aboutdifferent geographies in that period (latitudes andlongitudes of settlements, plants and fruits grown,climatic conditions, physical and psychologicalstructures of people, income sources, etc.). Ourstudy was formed as three main titles and sub-tit les related to them. In the first part, we tried togive detailed information about the Persian origi nal of the work, Nuzhat al-Qulûb, in the secondpart, the Translation of the Nuzhat al-Qulûb, andin the third part detailed information on the geog raphy section of the work, the Translation of theNuzhat al-Qulûb, which constitutes the essenceof our research. The study was terminated withthe evaluations made in line with the informationobtained.

Özet

Kendi döneminin önemli eserlerinden biri olan ve Hamdullah Müstevfî tarafından yazılmış olan Nüzhetü’l-Kulûb adlı eser, 17. yüzyılda Farsçadan Osmanlı Türkçesine Tercüme-i Nüzhetü’l-Kulûb adıyla tercüme edilmiştir. Bu çalışmayla amacımız Tercüme-i Nüzhetü’l-Kulûb adlı eseri ilim dünyasına tanıtmanın yanı sıra 17. yüzyıl Osmanlı Türkçesi dil araştırmalarına katkıda bulunmaktır. 1650’den önce Bitlis Bey’i Abdal Han bin Ziyaeddin Han için tercüme edilmiş olan bu eser, değişik ilim dallarına ışık tutabilecek mahiyette önemli bilgileri ihtiva etmektedir. Ansiklopedik nitelikte olan eser, değişik bölümlerden oluşmaktadır. Bu bölümlerden coğrafya bölümü araştırma konumuzu teşkil etmektedir. Coğrafya bölümü, varak sayısı en fazla olan bölüm olması ve o dönemdeki değişik coğrafyalar hakkında verdiği bilgiler (yerleşim yerlerinin enlem ve boylamları, yetişen bitkiler ve meyveler, iklim şartları, insanlarının fiziksel ve psikolojik yapıları, gelir kaynakları v.b.) yönünden kayda değer ayrıntılara sahiptir. Çalışmamız kapsam olarak üç ana başlık ve bunlara bağlı alt başlıklar şeklinde oluşturulmuştur. Birinci bölümde, eserin Farsça aslı olan Nüzhetü’l-Kulûb, ikinci bölümde, Tercüme-i Nüzhetü’l-Kulûb, üçüncü bölümde ise araştırmamızın özünü oluşturan Tercüme-i Nüzhetü’l-Kulûb’unCoğrafya Bölümü üzerinde detaylı bilgi verilmeye çalışılmıştır. Ulaşılan bilgiler doğrultusunda yapılan değerlendirmelerle çalışma sonlandırılmıştır
