Investigations of some acute phase proteins in cattle with traumatic reticuloperitonitis or with traumatic pericarditis

Abstract

The aim of the present study was to determine concentrations of some acute phase proteins (APP) which are significant diagnostic parameters and to investigate their prognostic and diagnostic features in cattle with traumatic reticuloperitonitis (TRP) or with traumatic pericarditis (TP). In this study, treatment groups were included 20 cattle with TRP and 6 cattle with TP, and control group was included 10 healthy cattle. Rumenotomy was performed on 13 animals of TRP group and then they were hospitalized for 3 days. Blood samples were at the base line from in 3 groups, and during the hospitilazation from 13 animals in TRP group to determine the concentrations of serum amyloid A (SAA), haptoglobin (Hp), alpha1 acid glycoprotein ( 1 AGP), fibrinogen (Fb) and albumin (Alb). Futhermore, the level of inflammation in blood was also determined by a glutaraldehyde coagulatin test (GCT). Result of the present study indicate that severe inflammation was determined, the concentrations of positive APP including Hp, SAA, 1 AGP were significantly increased, and albumin concentration was significantly decreased in cattle with TRP or TP. This is the first preliminary stuy that APP were well-investigated in cattle with TRP or TP, and also new findings were presented for their pathogenesis.

Özet

Bu çalısmanın amacı diagnostik öneme sahip bazı akut faz proteinlerin (AFP) retikuloperitonitis travmatika (RPT)’li ve perikarditis travmatika (PT)’li sıgırlarda belirlenmesi ve bu proteinlerin diagnostik ve prognostik önemlerinin arastırılmasıdır. Bu amaçla çalısmada 20 adet RPT’li, 6 adet PT’li ve 10 adet de saglıklı hayvan kullanıldı. RPT grubunda yer alan hayvanlara rumenotomi uygulanarak 3 gün daha hospitalize edildi. Bütün hayvanlardan 0. gün ve rumenatomi yapılanlardan da günlük olarak 3 gün daha kan örnekleri toplanarak serum amiloid A (SAA), haptoglobin (Hp), Alfa1 asit glikoprotein (1 AGP), fibrinojen (Fb) ve albumin (Alb) degerleri belirlendi. Ayrıca toplanan kan örnekleriyle gluteraldehit (GLA) testi uygulanarak her hayvan için yangı dereceleri saptandı. Yapılan analizler sonucunda RPT ve PT grubunda yer alan sıgırların siddetli derecede yangısal bir süreçte bulundugu ve bu hayvanlarda pozitif akut faz proteinlerinden Hp, SAA, 1 AGP ve Fib’in sentezinin önemli derecede arttıgı ve buna karsın negatif akut faz proteini olan Alb’in sentezinin düstügü belirlendi. Bu çalısma ile ilk defa RPT’li ve PT’li sıgırlarda akut faz proteinleri ayrıntılı olarak incelenmis ve hastalıgın patogenezi ile ilgili yeni bilgiler sunulmustur.
