Surveillance of parasite burden in sheep ınfected with gastrointestinal nematode during pregnancy period

Abstract

This study was conducted to watch over gastrointestinal helminthes infection in sheep during pregnancy period. For this aim, 30 sheep determined with gastrointestinal helminthes infection from Bashoroz Village of Bogazlıyan District/Yozgat were included. During the pregnancy period of September 2005 to January 2006 that were determined according to mating time, stool samples were collected once a month from each sheep and were brought to laboratory with protocol number. In stool samples eggs per gram (EPG) values were determined and then 3rd stage larvae were determined and identified by copro cultures. The mean EPG value before mating time was detected as 98.1±59,6. The mean EPG values after 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th months from mating time were determined as 100±60.5, 109.3±53.8, 125.9±46.8 and 146.3±47.9, respectively. Bu çalısma, dogal enfekte koyunlarda mide-bagırsak nematodlarının gebelik dönemindeki yükünün takibi amacıyla yapılmıstır. Bu amaçla Yozgat’ın Bogazlıyan ilçesine baglı Bashoroz Köyünde özel bir koyunculuk isletmesinde mide-bagırsak nematodları ile dogal enfekte oldugu saptanan 30 koyun arastırmaya dahil edilmistir. Eylül 2005-Ocak 2006 tarihleri arasında koç katım zamanı dikkate alınarak gebelik dönemi boyunca ayda bir kez her bir koyundan teknigine uygun olarak dıskı örnekleri alınmıs ve protokol numarası verilerek laboratuara getirilmistir. Dıskı örneklerinde gram dıskıdaki yumurta sayısı (EPG) belirlenmis ve daha sonra dıskı kültürü ile 3. dönem larvalar saptanarak teshisleri yapılmıstır. Koç katımı öncesi ortalama EPG degeri 98,1±59,6 belirlenmistir.
