Abstract

Fiftyfive patients considered to be me¬diastinal pathology were referred to CT unit. Di¬agnosis of the mediastinal pathology had been made in 45 of the cases by other diagnostic met¬hods. In ten patients, diagnosis was made only by CT. The lesion was detected in 44 of the 45 cases by CT (97,8 %). In one of the 45 patients CT was unsuccesfull in diagnosis. The diagnosis was in¬correct in 1 patient (2,2 %), and one of the two al¬ternative diagnosis was present in 8 patients (17.7 %): Lymph node enlargement was found to be the most common mediastinal pathology (41,8 %). Lymph node enlargement was due to lymphoma, bronchogenic carcinoma, sarcoidosis and tuber¬culosis. The others were thyroid masses (12,7 %), aortic aneurysm (10,9 %), esophageal lesions (5,5 %), pericardial effusions (3,6 %), neurogenic tu¬mors (3,6 %), superior vena caval obstruction, vertebral tuberculosis (3,6 %) and one from each of the five other pathologies

Özet

Bilgisayarlı tomografi (BT) ünitesine medi¬astinal patoloji düşünülerek gönderilen 55 olgu¬nun 45'inde diğer tanı yöntemleri ile de tanı konul¬du. On olguda BT tanısı dışında tanı konulamadı. Kırkbeş olgunun 44'ünde BT ile lezyon tespit edil¬di (% 97,8). Bir olguda tespit edilemedi (% 2,2). Olgulardan birinde yanlış tanı kondu (%2,2). Se¬kiz olguda belirtilen iki ihtimali tanıdan biri doğru bulundu (% 17,7). En sık tespit edilen patoloji len-fadenomegaliydi (LAM) (% 42.8). Bunlar lenfoma, bronkojenik karsinom, sarkoidoz ve tüberküloza bağlı idi. Diğer patolojiler retrosternal tiroid kit¬leleri (% 12,7), aort anevrizması (% 10,9), özofa-gus tümörü (% 5,5), perikardiyal effüzyon (% 3,6), nörojenik tümör (% 3,6), vena kava superior obs-trüksiyonu (% 3,6), vertebra tüberkülozu (% 3,6) ve beş değişik patolojiden birer (1,8) olguydu.
