Abstract
Summary: Imaging of optic channel with high resolution computed tomography is important in diagnosis of its pathologies. The reference lines used to align the scanner and level of sections are quite important. Orbitomeatal line and Reid's baseline are usually taken as reference lines. In both techniques, reference lines are defined relatively and sections are taken at a certain angle to these lines posing from subjectively defined points. In the technique described in this study, clinonasal line which is the line from the upper border of posterior clinoid to the apex of nasal bone, that are easily and directly defined on lateral head scenogram were used as reference line. Optic channels were clearly demonstrated with this technique in the patients. Objective determination of reference points, adjustment of head position during sectioning without changing reference line, and reproducibility of sections are the advantages of this technique over others.
