Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the ratio of cesarean sectio to all births, the indi¬cations of cesarean operations and the maternal and newborn mortality rate of this operation du¬ring the last 12 years. Between January 1985 and June 1996 the births in our clinic were evaluated. During this period there were 11462 births and 2003 (17.5%) of them were performed with cesa¬rean sectio. Fetal distress was the most frequent indication for cesarean sectio with the incidence of 26.5%. The maternal mortality rate was 0.7% and 76 (3.8%) newborns died due to the labour trauma related to the operation. The rate of cesa¬rean sectio seems to decline in recent years but still is higher than the world's ratio.

Özet

Bu çalışmada kliniğimizde geçmiş 12 yılda yapılan sezaryen ameliyatlarının tüm doğumlara oranını belirlemek, sezaryen ameliyatlarının endi-kasyonlannı saptamak, bu operasyon sırasında anne ve bebek mortalitesini saptamak amaçlandı. Ocak 1985 ve Haziran 1996 yılları arasında klini¬ğimizde gerçekleştirilen doğum oranları incelendi. Bu dönemde 11462 doğum olayı görülmüş, bunun 2003 (%17.5)'ü sezaryen ile gerçekleşmiştir. En fazla sezaryene alınan hastaların oranı %26.5 ile fetal distress endikasyonuna sahip olanlardı. Se¬zaryen ameliyatına bağlı olarak %0.7 anne morta-litesi saptanırken, 76 (%3.8) bebeğin doğum trav¬masına bağlı eks olduğu saptanmıştır. Sezaryen oranı son yıllarda azalmakla beraber dünya orta¬lamasına göre hala yüksektir.
