Abstract

Congenital toxoplasmosis is a parasitic disease characterized by various symptoms and signs such as anemia, jaundice, convulsions, chorioretinitis, intracranial calcification and hydrocephalus. In this article four cases (ages ranged from 14-days to 5-months) with congenital toxoplasmosis are presented. Although the treatment was initiated without delay, the patients died. We would like to emphasize that congenital toxoplasmosis must be prevented by improving hygienic conditions and close follow up of pregnant women, since the disease progresses with severe clinical picture and has high mortality rate for the present time.
