Combined therapy of benazepril and hydrochlorothiazide in cases with essential hypertension

Abstract

In the present study, we daily administered a combination of 5 mg Benazepril and 6.25 mg Hydrochlorothiazide for a period of three months to 20 patients with mild or moderate hypertension (7 males, 13 females), and investigated the effects of this combination on arterial blood pressure, serum glucose, insülin, lipid metabolism and renal functions. In the course of this therapy, a significant decrease in systolic and diastolic blood pressure was observed whereas there was not any changes in mean pulse rate. In addition, no changes occurred in serum glucose, insulin, uric acid, sodium, potassium .cholesterol, triglycerides and HDL- cholesterol levels. However, significant decreases were observed in hematocrit and GFR but the serum creatinine level was increased. Moreover we did not encounter any significant side effects during the therapy.

Özet

Bu çalışmada; 13 kadın, yedi erkek toplam 20 hafif veya orta şiddetteki esansiyel hipertansyonlu olguda 5 mg benazepril+6.25 mg hidroklorotiyazid (Cibadrex 5/6.25) kombinasyonunun üç ay süre ile kullanımının arteriyel kan basıncı, serum glukoz, insülin, lipid metabolizması ve renal fonksiyonlara etkisi araştırıldı. Üç ay süre ile uygulanan benazepril+hidroklorotiyazid kombine tedavisi ile ortalama sistolik , ve diyastolik kan basıncında anlamlı düşme saptanırken, nabız dakika sayısında değişiklik gözlenmedi. Yine bu kombinasyon tedavisi ile serum açlık glukozu, insülin ,ürik asit, sodyum, potasyum kolesterol, trigliserid, HDL-kolesterol düzeylerinde değişiklik saptanmaz iken, hematokrit ve glomerül Filtrasyon Hızı (GFR) değerlerinde ise anlamlı azalma ve serum kreatinin düzeyinde anlamlı artış saptandı. Bunun dışında tedavi süresince önemli bir yan etkiye rastlanmadı.
