Abstract

Objective: The aim of this study was to detect the level of knowledge on the attitude towards circumcision among mothers having sons aged 0-12 years. Material and Methods: Having a descriptive orientation, a series of face-to-face interviews with 420 mothers having sons aged 0-12 years was conducted using a questionnaire. Information on the socio-economic level, and knowledge, attitude and behavior regarding circumcision of the mothers were questioned. Results: 16.4% of the mothers were detected to have had their sons circumcised below the age of 3, 39.7% between 3-6 years and 43.6% at the age of 6 and above. Amaç: Bu çalışma, 0-12 yaş erkek çocuğa sahip annelerin sünnete ilişkin davranışlarını ve bilgi düzeylerini saptamak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Tanımlayıcı olan bu çalışma 0-12 yaş erkek çocuğu olan 420 anneye yüz yüze anket yöntemi kullanarak yapıldı. Annelerin sosyo-ekonomik düzeyleri ve sünnet hakkındaki bilgi, davranış ve tutumları sorgulandı. Bulgular: Çocuklarını üç yaş altında sünnet ettiren annelerin oranı %16,4, üç-altı yaş arasında yaptıranların oranı %39,7, altı yaş ve üzerinde sünnet ettirenlerin oranı %43,6 olarak bulunmuştur.
