BUILDING COLLECTIVE MEMORY THROUGH MEDIA IN THE FRAMEWORK TELEVISION AND SOCIAL MEDIA

Abstract
The fact that the written and visual media at the point of re-reminding and retaining the past, particularly rearranging the traumatic events experienced in the past, reveals that it has an important role in the context of construction of the collective memory. Media is a memory space with a functional position in collective memory, besides it has an important role in recalling and visualizing the past. In the course of collective memory, media generally manifests itself through the reconstruction of historical events, and this function is expressed both visually and in written form. Especially, in TV serials and documentary films, history is being reconstructed and collective memory is being built through media. While the media mediates the construction of the collective memory, the past reveals itself not in its pure reality but in its reconstruction. Presenting political and ideological history of a society through mass media, by re-editing it in television serials and recalling it the society appears to be an important factor in collective memory and its building This study aims to show that written and visual media is a very important tool in the formation of collective memory, and that this tool is being used effectively in the context of collective memory nowadays, moreover, it aims to draw attention to this point.
Özet
Geçmişi yeniden hatırlatma ve canlı tutma noktasında yazılı ve görsel medyanın geçmişte yaşanılan özellikle travmatik olayları yeniden kurgulayarak ortaya koyması kolektif belleğin inşası bağlamında önemli bir role sahip olduğunu göstermektedir. Medya, kolektif belleğin inşasında bir araç olarak işlevsel bir konuma sahip olmakla birlikte bir bellek mekânı olmakla da hatırlatma, geçmişi canlı tutmada önemli bir yer arz etmektedir. Kolektif belleğin inşasında medya aracılığı genel itibarıyla tarihi olayların yeniden kurgulanmasıyla kendini göstermekte ve bu işlevini de yazılı ve görsel olarak ortaya koymaktadır. Özellikle Tv dizileri ve belgesel filmlerle geçmiş yeniden kurgulanmakta ve kolektif bellek inşa edilmektedir. Medya kolektif belleğin inşasına aracılık ederken geçmişi salt gerçekliğiyle değil yeniden kurguyla ortaya koyar. Bir toplumun siyasi ve ideolojik geçmişinin medyada özellikle de kitle iletişim araçlarından televizyonda dizi filmlerle yeniden kurgulanarak sunulması, topluma hatırlatma ve kolektif bellek inşa etme bağlamında önemli bir etken olduğu görülmektedir. Bu çalışmada yazılı ve görsel medyanın kolektif belleğin inşasında çok önemli bir araç olduğu ve bu aracın kolektif bellek bağlamında günümüzde etkin bir şekilde kullanıldığını ortaya koymak ve bu noktaya dikkat çekmek hedeflenmiştir.
