Preoperative and postoperative serum progesteron levels in patients with stomach carcinomas

Abstract
Serum progesteron levels of patients with stomach carcinoma were determined before and after surgery and the results were compared with those of a healthy control group. Significantly increased levels found preoperatively in the patient group showed decreases following operation. We conclude that use of serum progesteron levels, together with other markers, may be helpful in evaluating the diagnosis and recurrences.
Özet
Mide kanserli grupta operasyon öncesi ve sonrası serum progesteron seviyeleri ölçülerek, sonuçlar sağlıklı kontrol grubu ile karşılaştırmıştır. Mide kanserli grupta kontrol grubuna göre anlamlı yükselmeler tespit edilmiştir. Operasyondan sonra bu değerlerin düştüğü görülmüştür. Serum progesteron seviyesinin hastalığın teşhisi ve nükslerin değerlendirilmesinde diğer markerlar ile birlikte kullanımının faydalı olacağı kanaatine varılmıştır.
