Abstract

Glipizide GITS (the gastrointestinal therapeutic system) is a new sulphonylurea form that has the effect of controlled-release and can use a single dose. Thirty type-2 diabetic patients (mean age:55.3 ± 9.6 years, BMI:28.7 ± 4.3 kg/m2, diabetes age:3.6 ± 4.5 years) whose glycemic regulation could not be achieved by other oral anti-diabetic drugs and diet were included to the study. The effects of glipizide GITS on glycemic control and insulin secretion were evaluated. Blood samples were obtained at the beginning, 4th and 8th week for determination of basal, first and second hour glucose and insulin levels after standard mixed-meal. Glipizide GITS (Gastrointestinal Terapötik Sistem), kontrollü salınım özelliği bulunan ve günde tek doz kullanılabilen yeni bir sülfonilüre formudur.Diyet ve diğer oral antidiabetik ilaçlarla glisemik regülasyonu sağlanamamış 30 tip 2 diabetes mellituslu olgu (yaş ort :55,3±9,6 yıl, diabet yaşı ort: 3,6±4,5 yıl, BMI ort:28,7±4,3 kg/m2) çalışmaya alındı. Glipizide GITS'nin glisemik kontrol ve insulin salınımı üzerine olan etkisi araştırıldı. Başlangıçta, 4. ve 8. haftada, bazal, 1.saat ve 2.saat (standart karışık yemekten sonra) glukoz ve insulin düzeylerini değerlendirmek için kan örnekleri alındı.
