Abstract
Ectopic thyroid is a functional thyroid tissue out of normal thyroid location. the most usual ectopic location is seen in the lingual region. Mediastinal ectopy is rare and can be related to arcus aorta, very rarely it can cause obstruction of airway by tracheal invasion. We report this mediastinal ectopic thyroid case because it is rare. We should keep in mind that in operated patients whose hyperthyroidism is still going on, ectopic thyroid can be a reason and whole body thyroid scan is a valuable technique in the evaluation of these patients.

Ektopik tiroid, fonksiyonel tiroid dokusunun normal tiroid lokalizasyonunun dışında bulunmasıdır. En sık ektopik lokalizasyona lingual bölgede rastlanmaktadır. Mediastinal ektopi nadirdir ve arcus aorta ile ilişkilidir; Çok nadir olarak da trakeal invazyon nedeniyle havayolu obstrüksiyonuna neden olabilir.Mediastinal ektopik doku vakasını nadir görüldüğü için bildirdik. Opere edilmiş ancak hipertiroidinin kontrol altına alınamadığı vakalarda ektopik tiroid dokusu düşünülmelidir ve tüm vucüd tiroid sintigrafisi bu değerlendirme için gerekli bir yöntemdir.
