ENTRY OF NIKSAR UNDER THE RULE OF THE DANISHMEND STATE AND SOME POLITICAL EVENTS HAPPENED IN NİKSAR IN THIS PERIOD

NİKSAR’IN DÂNİŞMENDLİ DEVLETİ HÂKİMİYETİNE GİRMESİ VE BU DÖNEMDE NİKSAR’DA MEYDANA GELEN BAZI SİYASİ OLAYLAR

Abstract

Niksar has been one of the important settlements in Anatolia since prehistoric times. Its strategic location has further increased the importance of the city. It has caught the attention of the sovereign powers in every period and political formations have struggled to dominate here due to its geographical location. As a matter of fact, Niksar was conquered by Danishmend Gazi, one of the commanders of Great Seljuk State ruler Alp Arslan and became the capital of the Danishmend State with the start of the Turkish conquests in Anatolia after the Victory of Manzikert (26 August 1071). Some political events occurred in Niksar during the time it was under the sovereignty of the Danishmendids. These political events have been closely related to the strategic structure of the region where Niksar is located. Therefore, a political or military power that dominates Niksar and especially Niksar Castle located here was dominating Central Anatolia and the Black Sea Region. Because Niksar is at a key point for the geography of the region. In our study, firstly, the circumstances and conditions of the conquest of Niksar were emphasized and then some political events that took place in Niksar during the time of the Danishmendids were discussed and the reasons and results of these events were emphasized.

Özet

Niksar, tarih öncesi dönemlerden itibaren Anadolu’da önemli yerleşim yerlerinden biri olmuştur. Bulunduğu stratejik konumu şehrin önemini daha da arttırmıştır. Coğrafi konumu nedeniyle her dönemde egemen güçlerin ilgisini çekmiş ve siyasi oluşumlar buraya hâkim olma mücadelesi vermişlerdir. Nitekim Malazgirt Zaferinden sonra (26 Ağustos 1071) Anadolu’da Türk fetihlerinin başlamasıyla birlikte Niksar, Büyük Selçuklu Devleti hükümdarı Alp Arslan’ın komutanlarından Dânişmend Gazi tarafından fethedilmiş ve Dânişmendliler Devleti’nin başkenti olmuştur. Dânişmendli hâkimiyetinde olduğu zaman içerisinde Niksar’da bazı siyasi olaylar meydana gelmiştir. Bu siyasi olaylar, Niksar’ın bulunduğu bölgenin stratejik yapısıyla yakından ilgili olmuştur. Zira Niksar’a hâkim olan ve özellikle burada bulunan Niksar Kalesi’ne hükmeden bir siyasi veya askerî güç, dolayısıyla Orta Anadolu’ya ve Karadeniz Bölgesine hâkim oluyordu. Çünkü Niksar, bölge coğrafyası için bir kilit noktada bulunmaktadır. Çalışmamızda öncelikle Niksar’ın hangi durum ve şartlarda fethinin gerçekleştiği üzerinde durulmuş daha sonra ise Dânişmendliler hâkimiyetinde bulunduğu zaman boyunca Niksar’da cereyan eden bazı siyasi olaylar ele alınmış bu olayların nedenleri ve sonuçları üzerinde durulmuştur.
