BIBLIOMETRIK ANALYSIS OF GRADUATE THESIS WRITEN ON IBN KHALDUN IN TURKEY

TÜRKİYE’DE İBN HALDUN ÜZERİNE YAPILMIŞ LİSANSÜSTÜ TEZLERİN BİBLİYOMETRİK ANALİZİ

Abstract

Bibliometric research refers to the acquisition of diverse data on scientific contributions by examining the specific characteristics of documents, theses and publications. By analyzing these data, the productivity of individuals and institutions can be measured. In our study, all postgraduate dissertations writen about of Ibn Khaldun written in Turkey have been analyzed. Based on the specific search criteria, 67 master’s degree and 15 doctoral thesis were determined from the database of National Higher Education Council (YÖK) National Thesis Center. The aim of this study is to examine these theses according to their quantitative values and to draw a general map of the postgraduate theses related to the Ibn Khaldun in Turkey. We tried to do this by supervisors, supervisors’ titles, author gender and other data for the year in which theses were defended as data. In addition to this, the theses was presented by grouping them under department. According to this study, it noticed that the studies related to Ibn Khaldun were spread into many different academic fields. The number of the studies has increased over the years although they have not reached a sufficient level yet. This study is significant for providing preliminary information to the researchers who would like to study on topics related to Ibn Khaldun and directing them to the specific research areas.

Özet

Bibliyometrik araştırma; belgelerin, tezlerin ve yayınların belirli özellikleri incelenerek bilimsel katkılarailişkin çeşitli veriler elde edilmesidir. Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen bu verileri analiz ederek,bireylerin ve kurumların verimliliği ölçülebilir. Çalışmamızda ülkemizde İbn Haldun ile ilgili yazılantüm tezler analiz edilmiştir. Belirli arama kriterleri gözetilerek, Yüksek Öğretim Kurumu (YÖK) UlusalTez Merkezi veri tabanından 67 adet yüksek lisans ve 15 adet doktora tezi tespit edilmiştir. Amacımızbu tezleri nicel değerlerine göre inceleyerek ülkemizde İbn Haldun ile alakalı yapılan lisansüstütezlerin genel bir haritasını çıkarmaktır. Bunun için veri olarak, tezlerin savunulduğu yıl, danışmanları,danışman unvanları, yazar cinsiyeti ve diğer verileri göz önünde tutarak analizler yapılmıştır. Bununyanı sıra hazırlanan tezler anabilim dalları altında gruplandırarak tezlerin içeriğine dair bilgilersunulmuştur. Çalışmanın neticesinde Türkiye’de İbn Haldun ile ilgili çalışmların birçok akademik alanayayıldığı bilgisine ulaşılmıştır. Yapılan çalışmalar yıllar itibariyle artış göstermekle birlikte yeterli düzeyeulaşmamıştır. Bu çalışma İbn Haldun ile ilgili çalışmalar yapacak araştırmacılara hem ön bilgi vermesihem de çalışma alanlarına yönlendirmesi açısından önem taşımaktadır.
