Abstract

Sent as guidance to mankind the Holly Qur'an, as a part of its qualification, has been commented by believers throughout the history because of various reasons. The commentary we have studied has been written due to the conquest of Baghdad from Shi'a by an author who wants to look at the events from Qur'an perspective. This Ottoman written commentary establishes a relationship between the surah el-'Adiyât and conquest of Baghdad by Sultan IV. Murad (d. 1640). The interpretation of the verses was updated in accordance to this event. This hand written commentary not only makes contributions to Ottoman commentary accumulation but also shows how Qur'anic verses can be reinterpret to current events.
