Turkish Poems Appearing in the Work of Omer Nasuhî Bilmen Named "Lessons and Advice from the Holy Quran" and Their Sources

Abstract

Ömer Nasûhî Bilmen is a well-known author mostly earned his reputation from the books he wrote in the field of Islamic sciences. Besides, he began producing poems even in his childhood. He grew an interest towards the Turkish, Arabic and Persian literatures. He is a multi-faceted scholar with a strong literary sense. In most of his works, he used some of those poems from all three literatures with the purposes of especially to elucidate the subject matter, to contribute to better understanding of the issue and particularly to display his literary taste. In his works, he quoted from his poems and also from contemporary poets and the poets preceding him. However, he did not state to whom the poem belongs to. Due to this motive, a question comes to mind regarding which literary sources he utilized in his works. We undertook this study due to this reason.This study aims at examining the Turkish poems appearing in Ömer Nasuhi Bilmen's book named "Lessons and Advice from the Holy Quran" and identifying their sources.

Özet

Daha çok İslâmî ilimler sahasında yazdığı eserleriyle tanıdığımız Ömer Nasuhî Bilmen, çocuk denecek yaşta şiir söylemeye başlamış, Türk, Arap ve Fars edebiyatlarına ilgi duymuş, edebî tarafı da olan çok yönlü bir ilim adamıdır. Bilmen, yazmış olduğu birçok eserinde, bu üç edebiyatın şiirlerine, özellikle mevzuu daha iyi ifade etmek ve konunun anlaşılmasına katkı sağlamak ve bilhassa kendi edebî zevkini ortaya koymak için yer vermiştir. Eserlerinde gerek kendi gerekse çağdaşı ve kendinden önceki şairlerin şiirlerinden alıntılar yapan Bilmen, bu eserlerde çoğu kez şiirin kime ait olduğunu söylememiştir. Bu da bize yazmış olduğu eserlerde hangi edebî kaynaklardan istifade ettiği sorusunu akla getirmiş ve bizi böyle bir çalışmaya sevk etmiştir.Bu çalışma Ömer Nasuhî Bilmen'in Kur'ân-ı Kerîm'den Dersler ve Öğütler adlı eserinde geçen Türkçe şiirleri incelenerek şiirlerin kaynaklarının neler olduğunu tespit etmeyi amaçlamaktadır.
