The factors affecting the quality of in- service training on information and communication technologies

Abstract

In-service training (IST) has an important role in order to provideinnovations, reforms and improvements as well as necessarytraining programs to the teachers and facilitate the changes. Theaim of this study is to identify the underlying factors that affectthe quality of the training by examining the scientific studies( theses and articles) conducted on IST related to information andcommunication technologies (ICT). In the study, meta-synthesismethod (thematic content analysis), which is one of the co ntentanalysis methods has been employed. The scientific studiesrelated to the subject have been reached by the databases thatinclude academic publications in the fields of social science andeducation. The results and suggestions parts of 51 publications,which are identified as related to the subject from the databases,have been formed the findings of this study. The data obtainedhave been analyzed by using the PIE model which stands forplanning, implementation and evaluation. The technicalinfrastructure, proper and ready environment, scheduling ISTs atavailable times of trainees, using distance education methods andevaluation of the trainees at the end of the course are the mainfactors that present the quality of IST within the scope of ICT.

Özet

Hizmet içi eğitim (HİE) öğretmenlere yeniliklerin, reformların vegelişmelerin tanıştırılması, süreç içinde gereken eğitimlerinverilmesi ve değişimin kolaylaştırılmasında önemli bir yeresahiptir. Bu çalışmada Bilgi ve iletişim teknolojileri (BİT)konusunda verilen HİEler ile ilgili yapılmış bilimsel çalışmalar(tez ve makale) incelenerek bu eğitimlerin niteliğini etkileyentemel faktörlerin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada içerikanalizi yöntemlerinden biri olan meta-sentez yöntemikullanılmıştır. K onu ile ilgili bilimsel çalışmalara sosyal ve eğitimbilimleri alanlarındaki akademik yayınları içeren veri tabanlarıyoluyla ulaşılmıştır. İncelenen veri tabanlarında konuyla ilgilitespit edilen 51 adet yayının sonuç ve öneriler bölümü buçalışmanın bulgularını oluşturmuştur. Elde edilen veriler HİEleriplanlama, uygulama ve değerlendirme modeli kullanılarak analizedilmiştir. Teknik alt yapı ve ortamın uygun ve hazır olması,HİElerin kursiyerlerin uygun zamanına göre ayarlanması,uzaktan eğitim uygulamalarının kullanılması ve kurs bitimindekursiyerlerin değerlendirilmesi bilişim teknolojileri kapsamındakiHİElerin niteliği konusunda öne çıkan faktörlerdir.
