Abstract
Everything began on May 28th, 2013 at Gezi Park, Taksim in central Istanbul. The government was planning to build a shopping center in place of the park. Young people joined the calls of the nongovernmental organizations which rebuffed at this decision and began to stand guard to save the park. Disproportionate use of force by the police against the activists triggered support actions all over Turkey. The social upheaval which began at Taksim Gezi Park and spread across Turkey must be evaluated in many aspects. Obviously there is a social disturbance and obviously people were estranged from the government. We tried to understand the reasons for this through the survey that we conducted during forum meetings. Below you will find the details of the survey conducted from July 19 to August1, 2013, with the participation of 1050 people in several park forums in Istanbul including, Abbasağa, Yoğurtçu, Bakırköy, Beykoz, Göztepe/Özgürlük, Göztepe, Sarıyer-Büyükdere, Kocamustafapaşa,Yeniköy, Bosphorus University, Kozyatağı/Kriton Curi, Istanbul Technical University Ayazağa, Feriköy/Kurtuluş, Ümraniye. The purpose of the survey was to discover the perceptions and ideas of people who participated in the actions and forums about democracy, law and public sphere as well as their projections for Turkey pertaining to these issues. As an unpredictable wave from the bottom, this social movement offers significant opportunities for observing social unrest, problems and demands.
Özet
Her şey 28 Mayıs 2013’te Taksim Gezi Parkı’nda başladı.
