Abstract

The aim of this study is to develop a valid and reliable attitude scale that measures the attitudes of high school students towards programming. The sample of the study consisted of 214 high school students studying in 12 schools in different provinces and districts. The 5-Likert type of 64-item scale was prepared after the literature review and the scale was evaluated by four experts in the related fields in order to determine the scope validity of the scale. After the evaluation of the judges, a 21 item form was constructed. As a result of explanatory and confirmatory factor analyses, 7 items were discarded and a 3-factor solution consisting of 14 items demerged. Factors were labeled as demand towards programming, faith towards the benefit of programming and interest towards programming. The Cronbach Alpha of the scale were calculated as .89, and the total variance of the scale was calculated as 65.71 %. Psychometric properties indicated that the scale was valid and reliable.
