The Future Utopia Of A Journalist Author: Fetret

Abstract

One of the media products that bring the past and the future togother, the administrator and the public, is the newspaper. The newspaper, which was published in order to inform and enlighten the public, has become a medium that brings the people together with the literary envitonment by including literary texts over time. Ali Kemal, on the other hand, is a writer who made a name for himself with his journalism as well as his writing. Ali Kemal, who published articles in line with his ideas and did not refrain from criticizing the period and the administrators, continued to write works in the same way, not deviating from the way he knew, despite deing exiled many times. One of those work is his novel “Fetret”, in which his son Osman Fetret is the protagonist. The novel, which has an autobiographical feature, also reveals the literary personality of Ali Kemal, who stands out with his journalism. As a matter of fact, in this work, which brings together the gengre of novel and newspaper, he touches on the profession of journalism, envisions the future state of journalism, and constructs a future utopia. While he deals with the real-life journalism with the negative heroes he wishes to have with the positive heroes he includes in his novel, he also reveals that the negative characters will always exist.

Geçmiş ile geleceği, yönetici ile halkı bir araya getiren basın-yayın ürünlerinden biri, gazetedir. Halkı bilgilendirmek ve aydınlatmak amacıyla çıkarılan gazete, zamanla edebî metinlere de yer vererek halkı edebî çevre ile buluşturan bir mecra hâline gelmiştir. Ali Kemal ise yazarlığının yanı sıra gazeteciliği ile de adından söz ettiren bir ediptir. Fikirleri doğrultusunda yazılar neşretmiş, dönemi ve yöneticileri tenkit etmekten geri durmamış olan Ali Kemal, pek çok kez sürgüne gönderilmesine rağmen bildiği yoldan şaşmayarak aynı minvalde eserler kaleme almaya devam etmiştir. O eserlerden biri ise oğlu Osman Fetret’in başkahraman olduğu Fetret adlı romanıdır. Otobiyografik bir özelliğe sahip olan roman, gazeteciliği ile ön plana çıkan Ali Kemal’in edebî kişiliğini de gün yüzüne çıkarmaktadır. Nitekim roman türü ile gazeteyi bir araya getirdiği bu eserinde gazetecilik mesleğine değinmekte, gazeteciliğin gelecekteki durumunu tasavvur ederek âdeta bir gelecek ütopyası kurgulamaktadır. Romanında yer verdiği müspet kahramanlar ile olmasını arzu ettiği, menfi kahramanlar ile de gerçekte var olan gazeteciliği ele alırken menfi karakterlerin her vakit var olmaya devam edeceğini de gözler önüne sermektedir.
