SELECTION PhD STUDENT USING VIKOR METHOD IN THE BASED OF AHP

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to solve PHD student selection problem using AHP based VIKOR method, one of the “multi-criteria decision-making” methods. Specialists in problem consist of the academic members of Usak University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. Sampling, on the other hand, consists of 6 candidates who think applying to Institute of Social Sciences Business Department PHD programme. The criteria used in the study were built by referring to the related literature review and expert views. Obtained criteria are ALES (Academic Personnel and Post-graduate Education Entrance Exam), graduation time, field experience, interview, and YDS (Foreign Language Exam). As a result of the study AHP method and YDS and ALES were determined as the most important criteria. The study was ended by organizing the alternatives and identifying the best and the worst candidates using VIKOR method.

Özet

Bu çalışma da doktora öğrenci seçimi probleminin “Çok Kriterli Karar Verme” yöntemlerinden AHP temelli VIKOR yöntemi ile çözümlenmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Çalışmadaki uzman ekip Uşak Üniversitesi İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi öğretim üyelerinden oluşmaktadır. Örneklem; Uşak Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü İşletme Bölümü doktora programına başvurmayı düşünen 6 adaydan oluşmaktadır. Çalışmada kullanılan kriterler ilgili literatür taraması ve uzman görüşüne başvurularak oluşturulmuştur. Elde edilen kriterler, ALES (Akademik Personel ve Lisansüstü Eğitimine Giriş Sınavı), mezun olduğu süre, saha tecrübesi, sözlü mülakat ve YDS (Yabancı Dil Sınavı) şeklindedir. Çalışmanın sonucunda; en çok öneme sahip kriterlerin AHP yöntemi ile YDS ve ALES kriterleri olduğu belirlenmiştir. Alternatiflerin sıralaması, en iyi ve en kötü öğrenci adayların belirlenmesi ise VIKOR yöntemi ile yapılarak çalışma sonlandırılmıştır.
